She puts a great deal of research and effort into the subtleties of shape and colouring in all of her animal and floral designs. Even her many free and donation-based patterns exhibit a high level of detail and precision, not found in many free patterns.

In addition to thorough design, June's instructions are well thought-out and clearly written, with lots of quality photography. For those who get stumped by a complex design, or one of her pioneering techniques, June offers many excellent online tutorials and videos. I am addicted to PlanetJune patterns! I have almost all of them and have crocheted all but 18 out of 160 patterns! I love the plants and dinosaurs most. June's patterns are accurate and without typos. She includes a lot of pictures and diagrams in her patterns. PlanetJune patterns strike the perfect balance between looking realistic-cute, and being straightforward to crochet. She has always gotten back to me quickly with answers to my questions. Oh my gosh, June's patterns are the only amigurumi patterns I will pay for. Her creations are so close to the actual animal it is amazing. So well written and easy to understand, and if for some reason you do not understand June is just an email away and responds super fast and super friendly.

I have more PlanetJune patterns than I think I can get to in a life time and I DON'T CARE! I'll keep buying just about every one as soon as it comes out. I don't like cartoony patterns for animals and these are some of the most consistently realistic. Also the patterns are fantastic. Once upon a time, my daughter asked me to make her a crocheted lemon. I had only been crocheting a year or so. I googled for a pattern, and found PlanetJune! I didn't think I was a good enough crocheter to justify paying for a pattern, but loved what I saw and bookmarked it for later. Then a friend wanted crocheted violets for a baby shower gift (baby's name is Violet), so I bought my first PJ pattern! I love PlanetJune patterns because I can always count on incredibly clear directions including placement of ears, feet, etc, which makes my completed project look very much like the picture in the example. It is wonderful to have such detailed instructions, especially for beginners, including tips and tricks to make the process easier! Also, June's online video and photo tutorials are excellent for helping both right AND left-handed crocheters.

When buying a pattern, the process is simple and I love that I can download it multiple times if necessary. When my computer was stolen a few years ago, replacing my PlanetJune patterns was a piece of cake. The best part of PlanetJune, though, is June's commitment to giving her customers the best experience possible. Her genuine interest in continuously evolving, from her website to patterns, makes her hands down my favorite designer.

Being on disability, I have an extremely limited pattern budget. This means I have to be very choosy with the patterns that I buy. It has to be something I will actually make and not just collect the pattern. June's patterns are one of my very few exceptions. As for the patterns you can tell that June has worked hard and spent a lot of time testing and finding the easiest crochet methods. Shaping and color changes are very well explained in the pattern. Items I never would have thought I could have completed were easy following June's methods. Her tutorials and book are a great help too.

Her two books are great resources as well.

I think it was very lucky that I stumbled upon PlanetJune very early on in my crochet "career" (I started crocheting in February of 2021 and found June in May). Lucky, in that it meant I didn't have to suffer through too many less-than-stellar (but competent) patterns before finding out what a truly expert pattern designer is capable of. It has become somewhat of a problem though, as now I have a hard time enjoying other patterns that aren't "up to snuff" - June has set a VERY high bar!

In addition, she is very approachable (and responsive) when it comes to helping if you're stuck on any of her patterns (including the free ones!) - though, the advice is frequently, "do *exactly* what the pattern says" - but nicely. Added to that, the community she has built up around her (on Ravelry) is amazing and speaks to June's high leadership and charisma stats.

PlanetJune patterns are hands down the best amigurumi patterns I've ever seen. They are always so detailed and filled with pictures, so you always know what the next step is and never have to troubleshoot vague directions. Her detailed directions on sewing all the pieces together are especially appreciated, and something that is typically missing from other patterns. If I'm ever looking for a pattern for a new project, I go to June first to see if she has one (which, thankfully, she usually does)!
