Twist-Trim Baby Blanket is an original PlanetJune Accessories crochet pattern by June Gilbank.
An easy-to-memorise 2-row repeating pattern with a subtle texture and no large holes make this blanket fast to work up as a baby blanket (or use the provided tips to enlarge it to any size). Choose two contrasting colours to crochet the eye-catching twisted edging, or omit the final row of the border for a faster finish.
Size: Finished blanket measures approximately 24 x 30” (60 x 75cm) - which is a nice baby blanket size - or any size that you prefer. (If you’re making a larger blanket, you’ll need more yarn.)
Difficulty: easy/intermediate
Yarn: approx 640m/700yds DK (#3 light) weight yarn in main colour, plus approx 30m/35yds each in two contrasting colours
- Sample uses Elle Pure Gold DK yarn: 247g of Moonstone and 9g each of Hazelnut and Peat Brown
- Alternate colour sample uses Bernat Satin (light worsted weight) in Silk, Spring and Sage
You can use any hook and yarn combination for this pattern; using a thicker yarn and larger hook will make your blanket grow more quickly! (Pattern also gives advice for choosing an appropriate hook for your yarn.)
Hooks: H US / 5mm and I US / 5.5mm crochet hooks
Details: This detailed pattern includes full written instructions, clear charted stitch diagrams, a two-page step-by-step appendix for the special twisted edging (included separately both for right- and left-handers), and bonus instructions for fixing the edging if you made a mistake anywhere earlier, so the edging colours will always match up seamlessly.
