Serengeti Sunset is an original punchneedle embroidery pattern by June Gilbank.
Distinctive acacia trees are silhouetted against the African sunset, as giraffes and an elephant wander the plains of the Serengeti.
This 10-page pattern includes full instructions and traceable patterns to make a 10" x 2.5" rectangular punchneedle embroidery of an African sunset, and patterns and full assembly instructions to make a tapered coffee sleeve that will fit any disposable coffee cup and save you from using double cups or cardboard disposable sleeves!
Supplies required:
- Punchneedle (size medium)
- Punchneedle threader
- 6" Lip-lock embroidery hoop
- Weavers cloth or another suitable backing fabric
- Small, sharp embroidery scissors
- Fine marker pen
- Embroidery floss
Optional supplies for coffee sleeve:
- Woven fusible interfacing, or lining fabric & washable fabric glue
- 1 yd 1/2" double fold bias tape (or make your own)
- Fasteners such as buttons and ribbon loops, or hook-and-eye fasteners
This pattern includes a list of all the DMC floss colours required to complete the design exactly as pictured (colour names and numbers) and the Anchor equivalent colours (numbers). Feel free to customize the design with your own colour substitutions if desired!
The pattern also includes preparation and punching instructions, and finishing techniques for the flat rectangular embroidery, if you don't want to make the coffee sleeve.
