Palm Leaves Triangular Shawl is an original PlanetJune Accessories crochet pattern by June Gilbank.
This shallow triangular shawl has a large, bold, stitch pattern. The extra-tall stitches work up into eye-catching oversized lace that makes an impact! A complementary edging anchors the dramatic main pattern without competing with it. Snuggled up around your neck, this shawl will keep you warm and cosy, or wear it across your shoulders to reveal the beautiful open lace pattern.
My lace patterns are designed to be worked with normal-sized hooks into the spaces between stitches, which means that there's no hunting for those tiny fine loops to work into, and they are a pleasure to work.
Size: The size of the shawl is totally up to you - just keep crocheting until it's the size you wish!
Variegated sample measures 61" (wide) x 19"(tall) blocked.
Terracotta sample measures 61" (wide) x 16.5" (tall) unblocked; 68" x 19" blocked.
Difficulty: easy/intermediate
Yarn: Any yarn weight will work with this pattern although I used DK weight for the samples; using a thicker yarn will increase the size of the stitch pattern and make the resulting shawl bulkier.
Main variegated sample used 460m DK weight cotton/acrylic blend yarn
Terracotta sample used 460m DK weight acrylic/bamboo blend yarn
Hook: an appropriate hook for the yarn you choose (hook size advice is provided in the pattern)
Main variegated sample used an I US/5.5mm hook
Terracotta sample used a J US/6mm hook
Optional: blocking wires and/or rustproof pins, and a surface for blocking
Details: The pattern includes full stitch diagrams as well as clear written instructions. It also includes two options for the edging: the full standard edging (shown in variegated sample) if you have plenty of yarn remaining, and a shallower version (shown in terracotta sample) if you want a less dramatic border, or are concerned that you may not have enough yarn to complete the whole edging.
Note: Take advantage of the savings when you buy any three PlanetJune Accessories patterns of your choice as a custom set!
