An original crochet amigurumi monkey pattern from the Fuzzy Friends collection by June Gilbank.
This 3-in-1 pattern includes 3 different designs: adult and baby Tamarin monkeys (with poseable wired legs and tail) and a child-safe wire-free Gibbon (actually an ape, not a monkey - hence no tail!) with dangling legs.
Yarn: worsted weight yarn for face and feet and a fuzzy yarn. The specific yarns I used have probably been discontinued since I designed these patterns in 2007-8, but these patterns are very versatile and you can substitute many different yarns with great results:
Bonus Information Guide: All Fuzzy Friends patterns include an additional PDF instruction file called About Fuzzy Patterns. This 4-page reference guide is crammed full of information, tips, and examples for choosing and using both eyelash and fluffy/fuzzy yarns, how to substitute any regular yarn of your choice, and how to brush smooth pieces with a wire brush to give a fluffy result.
Hooks: US H / 5mm, US G / 4mm, US G / 3.5mm
Size: The size will vary depending on the yarns used and the type of monkey you make. The example monkeys are 9″ long (not including tail or dangling legs) and the baby monkey is 6″ long (not including tail).
Details: Please note that this is an intermediate pattern, especially the version with the wired legs and tail. The pattern includes full instructions to make an adult and baby monkey with poseable wired limbs, and full instructions to make a child-safe monkey with dangling limbs.
Eye sizes:
Adult monkeys: 9mm
Baby monkey: 6mm
Note: Take advantage of the savings when you buy any three Fuzzy Friends patterns of your choice as a custom set!
