May Flowers CAL roundup

The May Flowers CAL included all my botanical patterns: flowers, plants and fruit. As you’ll see below, the clear winner for ‘most popular pattern’ this month was my African Violets – the first potted plant I ever designed!

Now, roundup time! (And don’t forget to keep reading to the end for the June CAL details…)

Forgotten Gems CAL roundup

The Forgotten Gems CAL featured an eclectic mix of some of my more neglected designs:

With no fast (or free) patterns on offer, I knew there’d be fewer entries than usual, but we’re definitely looking at quality, not quantity this month – looking at the photos below makes me a very proud designer!

And it’s interesting to see that, with all that choice, there were some definite themes running through the CAL – surprise favourites have been Aardvarks and Yetis & Bigfoots, as well as lots of Chunky Elegance Rugs made into surprisingly beautiful doilies (just use crochet thread and a steel hook if you’d like to try making one too).

Spring/Easter CAL roundup

This month we celebrated the return of spring, and Easter for those who observe it, with a special prize CAL featuring all my spring-themed designs. There were so many beautiful entries – looking through all these bunnies and flowers certainly make me feel springlike (even though it’s autumn here)! I participated myself with a new version of an old pattern (Fuzzy Chicks) and a brand new design (Shamrocks):

Ceph-Along CAL roundup

This month we took a trip under the sea with the Ceph-Along, featuring my new Baby Cephalopod patterns and their friends made from any of my other aquatic patterns.

I decided to participate in this CAL myself with some crazy-cool variegated yarn I found. I wasn’t sure if the effect was going to be amazing, or just an amazing disaster, but it worked out as well as I hoped it would – you can almost see my baby cephs changing colour before your eyes…

The verdict seems to be that this was a perfect use for a very unusual yarn 🙂

Accessory-Along CAL roundup

Time for the final CAL roundup of the year! The Accessory-Along was started in October, but we decided to extend it until now, so CALers could make lots of Christmas presents. I designed 2 new donationware patterns for this CAL: the Frosty Windows Scarf and Chunky Moebius Cowl – you’ll see lots of both of those below!

For details of the next CAL, which starts tomorrow, keep reading to the end of this post. And now to the roundup of beautiful projects made from my PlanetJune Accessories patterns:

Happy Christmas! Let’s celebrate with a look at the results of the 2012 PlanetJune Christmas Crochet-Along. Thank you to everyone who joined in; as always it’s so much fun to see what you’ve made. My contribution to this CAL was a thread crocheted poinsettia:
