I have a few favourite tools from KnitPicks that I use all the time and can highly recommend. (If you’re looking for a little something to push you over that free shipping limit with your yarn order, one of these could be just the thing!)
Steeking Scissors: My all-time favourites! These small scissors are ideal for snipping yarn ends. I have several pairs – they’re super sharp, and the sturdy cover makes them perfect to toss into your project bag without harm. And the fact that they’re purple is just a bonus!💜
Yarn Ball Winder: If you don’t have a yarn winder, you’re missing out! It’s perfect for quickly rewinding partial skeins into a tiny compact cake for tidy storage. And any yarn that you buy in a twisted hank will need to be wound into a ball before you can use it – a ball winder makes that process go much more quickly. My ball winder review and tips >> |
|
Birch Swift & Ball Winder: If you need a swift as well as a yarn winder, this combo pack offers the best deal – the winder is almost free!
Full disclosure, I haven’t tried this swift yet, but it’s very well reviewed and it’s what I plan to buy when my rickety vintage winder gives up! |
|
T Pins: If you want to wet/steam block your crochet or knitting, stainless steel pins that won’t leave rust stains on your previous work are a must. These T pins are the best I’ve found – they’re easy to use, last forever, and they come in a nice sturdy pack for storage. I have several packs so I can easily block even the largest shawl. Tip: Get the 40-pack for the best value! |
|
Tape Measure: I love a retractable tape measure – they’re so small and convenient; I use them all the time. Perfect for your crochet tool kit.
Knit Picker: This is a super-useful gadget for all your sweaters – it has a tiny latch hook that lets you quickly and easily pull any snags through to the inside. You’ll be glad you have it when you need it!
Soak Wash: I swear by Soak Wash for washing my handmade projects and other hand washables – I love the Pineapple scent and also use Scentless when I don’t want a fragrance. It’s a no-rinse wash which makes it so easy to use – just soak, squeeze, and dry! Note: Don’t be alarmed by the price – you only need 1 tsp per sinkful of water, so one bottle goes a very long way.) |
I hope you’ll also find some of these must-have items useful! If nothing else, trust me and pick up those wonderful scissors – you can thank me later!
I do have a KnitPicks affiliate link, so if you shop through any of my links above you’ll be supporting my work with a small commission from your order at no cost to you, but you know that I only ever give genuine recommendations!
