Day 4

I went for a lovely long run before breakfast - as far as Bel Royal motors and back (not sure of the mileage though!). Breakfast was nice as usual, but they forgot to bring my toast for ages so we had to wait around for about 20mins before I got it.

We took a bus to Gorey to take a look at a restaurant that had been recommended to us, but we weren't particularly impressed. We then took a bus to Samares Manor. We saw their macaws and loads of birds of prey, including a juvenile kestrel called Biggles, who was really cute. There were also loads of wild swallows swooping over the lawns and flying very very close to us!

We had lunch in their cafe. The weather wasn't great and we were a bit cold. We waited in the cafe for ages and eventually a waitress came up to us and said they'd lost our order! She offered us free drinks to make up for it so I got a hot chocolate. When the food did arrive, my Jersey bean crock was so nice it was worth the wait! And by the time we left the cafe, the weather had improved too.

We fed the ducks some leftover bread - Dave managed to handfeed one! - and then wandered around the gardens until the falconry display started. Unfortunately, we had to leave halfway through the display to catch our bus.

We went back to the hotel for a bit, & then went to the Chicago Rock Cafe for a quick burger & fries meal before the film (Matrix Reloaded). Afterwards, we had a big run to catch the bus back, but we just made it.
