We decided to have a weekend break at Algonquin Park - a massive (over 7000km²!) provincial park in Ontario. We drove up on Friday afternoon, spent Saturday in the park and drove back on Sunday. It was 350km each way and took 5 hours to get there (blue route on map) and 6 hours to get back (green route on map).
Dave found us a luxury resort to stay in on Friday and Saturday nights. We stayed in a wooden lodge, with breakfast and 4-course dinners included, and a wood-burning fire and double jacuzzi in our room. It was a lovely short break, although the driving was tiring, but the scenery was so gorgeous it was well worth it.
